There is no right or wrong answer to this and it is purely based down to the individual I'm afraid, there are people that eat no more than 20g a day then there are people that cant eat less than 100g a day xx
Frustratingly - no one knows. But YOU can find out. You need to use a BG meter to check and see how you respond to different types of carb at different times of day. Everyone is different, and some people can easily cope with things that another would struggle with. It doesn’t necessarily make logical sense and you may find some surprises along the way.
Take a look in the Newbie section for Alan S’s Test, Review, Adjust blog post and ‘Jennifer’s advice’ - those will give you a helpful framework for starting to work out how your body is responding to the foods you are eating.
That question is a very good one.... However, it's individual.... Here is my history of weight vs carb intake
At DX I was about 230lb, eating well but obviously not that well
Dr told be to get to 180lb, methinks impossible, I'll try for 190lb
first few months on a more conventional diet I got to near 190lb (eating to the ADA guidelines for the most part)
Went to Missouri for a few months just after staring glyburide, tried eating to the guidelines but started to suffer a lot of hypo's as a consequence overate to compensate, weight went back up to 200lb
new year of 2016 decided to quit the glyburide & reduce my carb intake
went LCHF & reduced my carb intake drastically (on a good day 5-20g, others not so well but still <50), weight dropped to 165lb & I was maintaining at that
new year 2018, got complacent & wasn't so strict as I thought my D was under such good control, weight went up to 175lb & stuck there bouncing between 175 & 180
April 2018 (actually this week) decided to get back with the program, goal 165 or less down to 171 this morning
It's all about gauging how your body is reacting to the changes you are making, testing your blood glucose is an invaluable tool to measure your progress. I personally feel I'm eating a much healthier diet full of vegges (more & greater variety than before) & quality meats & fats
The first time I tried to loose weight (which was successful) I went down to between 70g and 100g per day. But as others have said, it's very individual and depends on what exercise you are doing. Right now I'm typically below 50g/day to keep my numbers in check.
