It sounds like you’re getting to grips with things @Nayshiftin. 🙂 Eating and testing to see what food suits you is the way to go. It can be frustrating to begin with, I remember being fed-up / tearful / flummoxed / gung-ho...it’s an emotional roller coaster at first! As you can see, there’s lots of support here, so keep on posting.:D:D

I remember my surprise when I had had a large charge free meal, and the levels rose.
I had not realised that protein had such an impact when carbs were needed t present. I just put some carbs back in.
You have certainly got to grips with things. Well done.

So how do you make this keto bread. I got rye sourdough and it’s upped me by 4points I was 5.2 before lunch snd 9 after I could cry. I am trying to weigh measure have within cal limit and nutrient but then this happens . I getting scared to eat.

See Youtube Vid for bread that I make.

That had given me hope. I so want to achieve. It’s not anger at anyone else or the disease it’s guilt shame and knowing how bad I am to cope . I cannot afford the apps and they seem too complicated . I will not starve just feels like it. None of the foods I really love. However once I get really hungry things should taste better, Blood sugar is 12 tonight it has been 27 at some readings. So it’s not too bad for me. I’m going to test n test and see what’s best. I’ve never had full fat milk in years and cream oh my that would feel a real treat but I have masses of weight to lose so it has to be low. I’m all over the place . The comfort is you are ALL being kind and supportive . THANK YOU . I am comforted by it
If you’re anything like me my sugar levels affect my mood terribly. I am a very fussy eater , used to be overweight. I was loosing weight then got diagnosed with type 1 . Best thing that ever happened in some ways . Carried on loosing the rest of the weight , eat healthily and feel so much better than I did . Wish you well , it does become a new way of life

Thank you, It is getting less daunting, my weight is going down but my sugars are all over the place. I do not really understand how you go from type2 to type1. I guess I'd prefer to have neither. I do want to lose weight but my motivation for exercise is very much nil. I find I can go at a pace some days and others . Unsure if it's blood sugars. My moods just swing all over. Poor hubby. Glad you lost your weight and thanks for the support.

Where on earth did the idea that T2 can turn into T1 come from? Some like Patti are misdiagnosed T2 because of their age despite the fact she'd never been overweight in her life so she had to battle to get the right blood tests and get the records changed, others may have a type of D known as LADA which starts off looking very like T2 and even responds to treatment with T2 drugs then later can ONLY respond to insulin and from that point, all the things that apply in T1 also apply to LADA.

My understanding is Type 1 your body does not have/make insulin to allow sugar to get to the cells of your body to work. Type 2 is your insulin does not work the way it should so your blood sugar goes high. So Hypo with type 1 and hypers with type2. Both are serious but Type2 is self-inflicted or so I am told therefore if you change your diet it should go into remission whereas type 1 will never go. I have read some posts that say they were type 2 then become type 1 but never understood. Unless their insulin supplies are changed. Do they call that lada?

I argued for decades that I could not cope with carbohydrate, but was told that the diet which made me feel so well and allowed me to lose weight was going to kill me.
I was almost spherical by the time I was diagnosed, so I abandoned the 'healthy' cholesterol lowering diet and went back to Atkins style eating.
My GP insisted that I ought to be eating a high carb diet - even though I said it made me feel ill, over and over again. Totally blanked.

There are plenty of skinny Type 2 and some of them even take much more exercise than yer average person - eg Sir Steve Redgrave.

I doubt very much if he inflicted T2 on himself. It does seem to run in some families too - so a genetic element.

There again there are also morbidly obese folk who don't become T2.

Some people have migraines, gout, bunions or anything else in a medical dictionary. OH's dad died of pancreatic cancer, his mum with bowel cancer, Pete's had prostate cancer and his only brother hasn't had cancer. My mom. dad and only sister died of or with various types of cancer. As yet, I haven't had it.

We are ALL different.

Some people are misdiagnosed as type 2 when they are really type 1 . Type 1s can have hypos and hypers if they get the insulin injections wrong .

Type 2 for me was encouraged to come on quicker due to my weight and lifesyle but it runs on both sides of my family many who are fit and slim so at some point I would have got it even if I was slim and fit I just gave the genes an easy path to bring it on.

Yes there is a belief amongst some medical professionals that a high carb diet is good for T2s. This opinion may have come from older guidance. More recent guidance, including the ADA, embraces a lower carbohydrate way of eating. Most importantly go with what works for you. If your diet is making you feel good, it is almost certainly doing you good. Your diet should not be making you feel ill. Diet/nutrition is a complex subject and doctors are usually only trained at a superficial level. I've been limiting carbs to less than 100gm/day for about 18 years. (Last HbA1c 43 but I do now take meds). Even a moderately high carb diet destroys my blood glucose control. Stick with it!

Nick - it's getting to just that time of year again when you always found that mowing the lawn sent you hypo, isn't it?

I can't say I went hypo, just lowered my glucose to an uncomfortable level. 4.2 maybe. We have a gardener these days!😳
