Hello
I am making my own lasagne and just wondered what people do about counting carbs for pasta sauces and soups etc ? I have attached a label of the sauce. Would people usually count all the carbs in the sauce and add to the meal ? Thanks

Hi Sam
Not sure I completely understand the reason for the question, but yes, I would add the carbs in the sauce but then divide the total by the number of portions. I often make two meals and freeze half. I actually find that half of what I would once have eaten is usually about right, which is probably why I ended up overweight in the first place!

That's what I would do too @Radders. Or... more accurately, since we usually make our sauces up from onion/garlic/celery/tinned tomatoes and whatever veg we have in, I would usually account for the carbs in the pasta and then add a per-person allowance for the sauce (and white sauce if lasagne). 10-20g of carbs for my part of the whole is usually OK.

Are you thinking perhaps that say I have something - eg cheese on toast - where I'll have a shake of Daddies sauce on it - well I don't count that, cos a teaspoon of brown or red sauce doesn't make any difference really, so I don't allow for it?

Well it's a bit different when a whole pint of sauce is incorporated in the finished dish!

The clue every time is - how MUCH of it is in there?
