Hi, I'm looking for recommendations, if allowed, for a good Carb Counting app. I've been managing my diabetes over the years mostly through ignorance and exercise but having been placed on a FreeStyle Libre trial recently I've had my eyes opened to the impact of Carbs. I'm sure there must be an App alternative to carrying scales and a book around with me so I'm looking for recommendations on the App I should download instead. Many thanks (apologies if this is already answered in this thread however the search function does not give any direct app hits)

Many people use Carbs and Cals.
Personally, I found it tedious to use as it mostly has very traditional food which, being an adventurous vegetarian, I rarely eat. Over the year, I have built up the ability to eye-ball a dish and get "close enough".

I used nurtracheck but if you do happen to use it at home when you are weight food without nurtional information be aware something I noticed recently if you eater a special weight it will just give you carbs for 100gs so now I just look at what 100gs and do maths in that Instance

Nutracheck is the best I’ve found, annual and app only is cheapest but you can usually get a 7 day trial to decide

The free version of nurturacheck has plenty of information much more then free version of carbs and Cals

I’m new to this forum and I’ve just checked on your message about Nutracheck …so I had to give it a try
It’s fantastic!! It also adds my carbs and calories and scans local supermarket bar codes as well. It’s going to be a keeper and it’s not too expensive per month. Thankyou!

No problem. Buying the annual app only is usually the cheapest way to get it, but there is a monthly option for those who prefer that too.

Can ask what more the payed version of nurta check adds because the free vision which is what I use I can still find out a great deal so just interested to know what the paid version has added to it 🙂

You can only track about 5 items (I think?) per day with the free version

Ah I see thanks. I don't use it to track just look carbs in the food I'm eating so happy enough with that.

You mentioned above that you couldn't get a carb amount for a specific weight of food, only 100g (if I've understood you correctly) With the paid-for version you most certainly can enter any weight of food you like eg 23g of raw macaroni is 17.4g carb

I thought it was problem with the programing however it wasn't you have to add to the list itsslef

Use NutraCheck free, used recently to see carbs in a Corona beer by scanning barcode

Another vote for Nutracheck after using Carbs&Cals intermittently for years. The opportunity to scan is a game changer and if you go for the app only, the premium version is remarkably reasonable.

I use Samsung Health that came on my mobile phone and its really good. Tracks your steps/excercise and you put in what you had to eat for breakfast , lunch etc and add snacks and water consumption. Count carbs and calories too.

But you have to able carry your phone all the time to track steps and not all pockets are deep enough.

You dont have to count your steps! 🙂 I mainly use it for keeping track of my meals.
