Has anyone used the Diabetes Uk i-phone app? Does it have carb guidance? Their book 'Cals and Carbs' has been withdrawn and there is no plan to re-issue.

Why has the carbs and cals book been withdrawn?

To my knowwledge, the Carbs and Cals book and application have not been withdrawn, in fact there was a new edition of the book released just before Christmas. It can be bought from amazon at Carbs & Cals. Perhaps DUK are just not currently selling it through their shop?

Just looked at the carbs and cals web site no mention of it being withdrawn. It's a certain money spinner so doubt it ever would be either 🙂

I just checked DUK website and it's still on there to buy too.

Perhaps Fudgie means a different book with similar title?

Carbs and Cals isn't a DUK product. It's readily available in lots of different formats.

DUK's tracker app for iPhone doesn't have any carb advice just a section where you can add the amount of carbs. There are no food lists just sections for you to put quantities/calories etc

Carbs and Cals is still in App store although the last update seems to be March 2011 there is a free and paid for one there atm

If you want a (free) iPhone or Android app with a carb list, try the DAFNE UK app.

It lists the carbs as CP (carb portion) which is just the carb value in grams divided by 10, ie

1CP = 10g carbs
2CP = 20g carbs
etc

Why has the carbs and cals book been withdrawn?

So glad to hear book available elsewhere. Thought it was DUK only. Online shop it is marked out of stock. Rang DUK to enquire when back in stock. Chap said he had enquired higher up about this book recently and was told that with rebranding there was no plan to have it back in stock. I did not realise it would be available elsewhere. I will certainly look for DAFNE APP
