The question of eating mushrooms when you have candida came up the other day. Most said they are ok but the precautionary principle said not. Who is right?

There is a lot of debate about whether mushrooms feed candida overgrowth or not.
Some suggest that mushrooms may encourage growth of candida yeast. Since they are members of the fungi family, it is thought they may cross-react with the candida micro-organisms. In other words, because they are somewhat similar in nature, your body and your immune system may confuse them and think they are candida, according to Dr Amy Myers MD (3). The result could therefore be a reaction triggering inflammation as the immune system tries to neutralise the perceived threat, adds Dr Myers. I came across a piece talking of mushrooms in the diet and candida, and I decided to ignore it.
It all sounds a bit OTT to me. In a sensible balanced diet I cannot see eating mushrooms to be a problem. I eat them regularly and have no problems, and assume this is true for the vast majority of humans.

If a person regularly had unexplained candida they they may wish to experiment with elimination of suspected food groups (one group eliminated in each 'test') to determine if those were affecting them.
 
No idea I eat mushrooms type 1 for 58 + years. Not a problem for me. So will also continue to eat/ enjoy them.
But if problem with Candida why not stop them for a while to see if effective.
