What one have you got.

I have often seen this one recommend on here.
Type 1 Diabetes in Children Adolescents and Young People by Ragnar Hanas - considered to be the 'bible' for children and young people on insulin regimes. Don't be misled by the title - this book is relevant to people of all ages!

That is the one most of us recommend Julia cos it's written for us, instead of for Drs and nurses. And it's good enough to be on my DSN at the hospital's book shelf, or on her desk with post-it notes stuck in it, marking bits she wants to show to her patients to help them.

Was it general help you were looking for, or is it something specific you're having a problem with just now, or what?

Hi Julia.🙂 I like Think like a Pancreas by Gary Scheiner. He's good for practical info on MDI. 😛 And recently I've been dipping into Dealing with Diabetic Burnout by Ginger Vieira, especially the chapter on setting and achieving goals to improve BG control.😛 They both have T1 diabetes too, so they know what they're talking about.😉

Hi Julia

Ifind the book Type 1 Daibetes in Children, adolescants and young adults is excellent.
Ignore the age reference, it is of use at any age. I was diagnosed at 53 and still find it a well referenced book which is easy to dip into as and when you need some information.

I have also found that this forum is an excellent source of information and people are so willing to give their time and attention to any requests for help.

I'm a fan of "Think like a Pancreas" too, very useful since we're basically emulating what a pancreas would do naturally. I'm fairly sure the pancreas doesn't think the same things as me though, especially when I'm entertaining thoughts of pulling my pancreas out with my teeth and giving it a good shake, wouldn't do much to help my pancreas but it'd make me feel better 🙂. I've read the Ragnar Hanas book but didn't particularly gel with it, I found it a bit basic, but that was probably more to do with what I needed at that moment than the quality of the book.

That is the first reference to Dealing with Diabeteic Burnout.
Thank you. I know that this could be really useful.
I will start a new thread for it, to highlight it.
