No, but if it is your thread, you could perhaps ask mods to delete it. Or you could individually delete all your posts in that thread if you didn't start it.
 
I have a number of people on ignore, there posts show in threads, and can choose to read or not.

I once saw a topic on snoring, which sent me to sleep, cuz it’s boring. My red bell alerts were starting to hurt. So I covered top right with a bandaid.
 
Blocking a thread function would be nice to have
 
If you don’t want to read a particular thread, you don’t have to, just don’t look!
 
There was once a topic about comfortable loafers, which minimised discomfort & blisters. But when I looked at the price, I gasped & said “yikes.” Then I hid down behind my old sofa.

Yes, just don’t read them! It’s like finding a free magazine on a train. You only read the articles that interest you. The subject matter is usually clear from the title but if it’s not and you click on it and realise it’s not a thread you want to read, just click Back and find something more to your taste

If only it was that easy for some. My life would be so much easier if I could just do that. However mental health issues mean I find it *really* hard to do, sometimes impossible.

I've left online groups, real life clubs and even get nearly left this site due to my inability to just leave something alone!

If you don't suffer from it it's really hard to explain but it's kind of a morbid fascination with content you know you will find 'harmful' for want of a better word.

Hope that question makes sense!

If you mean you read things that you know will cause you upset, then, yes, I think I get that. It’s a particular thing with newspaper articles - a horrible headline but a need to look? Is that what you mean?

Both really. I've never been diagnosed but I'm nailed on autistic and can't back down from an argument when I know I'm right (think I'm right?!). If I see a thread title on a subject I'm remotely interested in-even if I know the content will 'grab' me-I find it extremely difficult to leave it alone.

It's the same at work if my colleagues are discussing some contentious piece of news or another. I have to really work so hard to stay out of it!

I kind of thought as I got older I'd been able to manage it better but as I approach 50 far quicker than I'd like to admit to myself that doesn't seem to be the case
 
You and me both @dannybgoode ! If I think I’m right, I struggle to bite my tongue too! I think that’s not uncommon. It’s the extent of it that can vary. One thing that’s helped me is simply not having enough time. I hardly use social media anymore and that’s avoided a lot of discussions/arguments.

I play the long game. Study the kneejerkers. Then return at what transpires. Always a “paper trail.” Or walk away. Some have a habit of eventually shooting their own foot.

Trouble is we're a team of 6 who have all worked together for at least 20 years so I know them all so well and know their strengths and weaknesses in an argument :D
