Can you describe the side effects you have had with Simvastatin

I have been suffering from aching muscles to the point I couldn't climb stairs without a struggle or stand all day at work. My shoulder joints were painful too. I visited my G.P and he took blood to test for Creatine Kinase ( CK) levels.
The results showed my levels were raised at 189 therefore I was told to stop my simvastatin immediately. I have been taking 40mg for seven years so I believe it's unusual. I had put my memory loss down to the menopause but my G.P says it can be connected to statins.
I have only had one night without them so can't comment on an improvement yet but I am looking forward to walking without the lead weight feeling.
I am worried about not taking statins but my G.P said there is an alternative, so I won't panic just yet.

I think this is the reason why I can't take any statins so my doctor put me on Bezafibrate and I've never had any problems.🙂
