Can there be subtle differences in the side effects of Metformin made by different manufacturers?

Hi' when I first started taking Metformin 500mg (twice a day) I experienced a continuing weight loss, (is this normal?), of about 12kgs which eventually stabilized out at +/-61.5kgs from +/-72.5kgs.

Up to recently I had always received Metformin manufactured by Medreich PLC, however my latest supply is manufactured by Crescent Pharma Ltd.

I don't know if it is a coincidence but my weight has started to reduce again resulting in a further worrying loss of 1.3kgs.

Whilst I'm sure that drugs are made to very strict standards, I ask the question, is it possible that Metformin made by different manufacturers may have different side effects?

On a more positive note my only blood/glucose test of the da, (which is pre-breakfas) has shown a slight improvement from mid 5s to low 5s, this morning it was a very low 4.3.

Medreichs insrtruction sheet advises "Do not drink excessive amounts of alcohol", Crescent's states, "No alcohol when taking Metformin". Whilst certainly not drinking in excess I do enjoy a 500g glass of beer or glass of wine with my evening meal, just before taking the Metformin, is this very dangerous?

I have had many different brands over the years the only thing I noticed was size. I have never really had weight loss from just taking,
Perhaps you should talk to your Doctor or Pharmacist.
