cant get my levels to drop . i am on metformin, never missed, but cant get down. i am in a lot off work stress at the moment and i am not exercising enough , but i have always kept it semi under control till now
Hi frankedad, welcome to the forum 🙂 Yes, stress can raise your blood sugar levels - the stress hormones trigger a release of glucose that is stored by the liver and raises your levels. I would suggest visiting your GP to see if your medication needs reviewing or if he/she can suggest any ways to help relieve the stress. Exercise is an excellent way to relieve stress, so if you can motivate yourself to get out and do more it will be a huge help, both to your levels and your sense of well-being.
Hi there and welcome to the forum, sorry to hear about your levels but yes stress can have a big effect on your levels as well as things like illness, how long have you been diagnosed?

Hi Yes worry and stress, upsets and shock can push your levels up.
Maybe when you are feeling a little better you could take up walking, just a little to start with, it's very therapautic and can really lift you up. Anyform of exercise is good. Just think of the fresh air and the things you may encounter on your walk ( I saw 2 Squirrels and a Robin when I walked back from my dad's last week) lovely 🙂
sugar level in body depends on various things like your food habits, type of food, work out and also depends on stress. stress level increase your blood pressure and finally your sugar level increased.
Sorry to hear you are having trouble with high levels. Have you tried reducing carb intake temporarily (increasing protein/veg) to see if that helps? If your liver is dumping glucose due to the stress you are under, then any carbs you are eating will just be pushing your levels higher
