Hi all
I am flying tomorrow morning
Does anyone know if I can take monitor, strips and plunger thingy in hand luggage? I guess sharps are not allowed?
Would spare strips be ok in the hold or would it be too cold?
Any help appreciated thanks🙂
 
As far as I know it all has to be in hand luggage. I think you may need a covering letter from your doctor to get through customs for the lancets. However when I went to Barbados I wasn't stopped at all I just let them know before my luggage was scanned that I had medical supplies for my diabetes in the bag and I wasn't stopped.
 
Take it all in your hand luggage - you don't want to risk it not turning up in the same place as you 😱 Probably worth telling the security you are a diabetic and have sharps, and if you have a prescription showing the items take that with you too.
 
I flew in May.

I keep the strips, monitor and lancets in my hand luggage and the security scanners didn't blink an eye. I did say they were in there when we went through.

I did also get a letter from my DSN, but I never had to show it.

Very similar in my case. Have flown a few times and never had any bother (except when we flew the day after they stopped any hand luggage at all in August 2006 just after the liquid bomb scare - and then it wasn't sharps that were the problem it was everything - luckily we were on the way home as even the luggage didn't get put on the plane.)

In relation to your spare strips, put them in your hand luggage in case your luggage doesn't get there at the same time you do. (I always put a bit of everything in my husband?s hand luggage as well - including needles/lancets just in case one of us loses that - though so far it has never happened - hope I am not tempting fate saying that 😉 )

I would stop worrying, and enjoy your holiday. 😎
