A distant relative (from overseas) is visiting next week. We are spending a day in London and I thought it would be fun to build a burger with what you want rather than taking their standard offerings. Does anybody know where this can happen? 🙂😎
I don't think there are any places like Fudruckers in London. However, if you google for gourmet burger places London, you'll find literally hundreds and I'm sure they'll be happy to let you customise. Gourmet burgers are very 'in'.
Meat Liquor is supposed to be very good. Otherwise there's your usual GBK and Byron Burger places. Special mention should go to my personal favourite, the Red Dog Saloon, home of the Devastator burger, which is 3 x 6 oz patties, 200g pulled pork, 6 rashers applewood smoked bacon & 6 slices American cheese.
The other advice I'd give you is that Bodean's is rubbish, despite what their marketing tells you. And the Bavarian Beerhouse in Tower Hill might not do great burgers but if you love beer and pork crackling, go there and order the pork shank. You get a joint the size of a toddler's head which is more cracking than it is meat.
The Devastator is one of those eating challenges so you'll fail the challenge if you don't eat the bun. Having said that, if you're physically able to eat that much, you're probably not really worried about blood sugar control!
Byron Burger will definitely do any of your burgers as 'skinny' (no bun, extra salad). Can't remember of GBK do but I'm sure if ask them they'll swap out the bun for a lettuce wrap.
Try watching Man versus Food Nation on the food channel, enough to put you off food for life.
Diners, Drive-ins and Dives is a good watch for the techniques and recipes but the quantities are mind blowing.
