British Indian Restaurant/Takeaway food

I had a couple of friends round the other week and we ordered a curry.
I had a chicken shaslik and some saag bhaji, it didn't affect my levels at all.
I love a dhansak, but those days are gone now I guess.
I haven't tried a Chinese lately but something like chicken and mushroom or mixed vegetables would probably be the safest bet.
Yummm!
Might see if ours do Saag Bhaji!

The wife and I had a "healthy" Indian takeaway about two weeks ago. I tested before and after and it did spike my BG levels a bit, (started at just under 6 and I think it went up to 9.5/10 ish) but we ate a Naan bread and I think it was that. Can't remember exactly what we had, I think it was a Tandoori mixed grill, some sort of curry (Prawn I think)? No rice, no poppadoms, no sag aloo, etc. Just try it and see how it affects your BG, remember everyone is different, so....... 😎

Although I'm T1 I do try to keep the carbs down when I have a ruby, mainly as it's hard to carb count - Never been a big rice fan, so will usually share one (and there will still be some left over at the end - for the next day, when it all tastes even better!) - Usually go for a Chicken Tikka Pathia with a side of Bindi Bhaji (Okra) but I do have to have a Keema Nan to dip into it with (Sorry!) which involves a big dose of insulin beforehand

Our local take aways were always very good - back when there were four to feed I used them regularly as I was lacking energy on all those healthy carbs - but I've not had a Chinese or Indian take away - or any of the other easy options only round the corner from us for maybe ten years now.
I do make curries, beef burgers, and a few vaguely exotic options these days, but all with low carb substitutions.
When I tell people that I have never bought anything in Greggs or Subway and don't buy coffee to drink outside the house they sometimes think I am pulling their legs. Those franchises are really entrenched these days.

mainly as it's hard to carb count
Ha yes, I find it's mainly guess work!

I've had a couple of curries (my wife is a huge fan of Indian food) and I find regardless of how many U's I stick in it's never enough.

I tend to err on the side of caution then correct at bedtime.

Ditto pizza (my downfall) and when the boy and I go to our favourite burger joint.
