Has anyone experienced breathing difficulties/ reduced lung function which they feel is linked to Insulin? Not a usually listed side effect but i have a close friend who feels that there is a link although medical profession is not taking this seriously.

Hi Helen I haven't experienced anything like that and I used to be a smoker! I'm unsure how Insulin would effect breathing but maybe someone had a rare reaction. Interesting though. Sheena

Hi Helen, welcome to the forum 🙂 I have heard this before, but think that it was found to be an anxiety issue rather than any physical problem related to the insulin, so this might be something worth investigating. How long have you been using the insulin, and do the symptoms coincide with starting it? What type of insulin is it?

Have you seen the doctor to rule out all possibilities? I have difficult breathing at the begining of a chest infection or in the hay fever season.

breathing problems

i just had to change insulin because of this

i couldn't walk across the house with out having

to sit down

it was like someone sitting on my chest and i wasn't able to breath

i hope the new one works

Strangely I've felt better breathing wise since diagnosis. It may be a coincidence , I don't know. I have been asthmatic for 50 years now and control it with 3 inhalers.

Perhaps the drugs just don't suit her, she should ask about this I think.
