Breakfast Cereal

I’ve enjoyed that yoghurt breakfast a few times recently. 2-3 big dollops of yoghurt, some berries and a crunchy sprinkle of nutty type muesli (not one of the very specialist ones)

On the whole I’ll stick to my single slice of toast though - roughly the same amount of carbs by my guesstimate.

Stupid question! but how much is considered a fair portion of Yoghurt for breakfast roughly? Ive got all the bits going to try that in the morning.
I dont weigh it and it depends how hungry I am. Anywhere between 2 and 4 of tablespoons is common for me. I often only have two meals a day though so they might be larger than if I were having 3. Honestly there’s worse thing I could have than a little extra yoghurt.

Yep a largish portion of the breakfast 3 spoons and maybe 50g of grain free granola probably is similar carbs. But.
1. It’ll take me longer to eat the yoghurt and sprinkles than gone in few bites single slice of bread
2. It taste much better
3. I’ll feel full longer because of the fat and protein
4. for me the bgl rise from nuts and yoghurt is less than from grains even if the count is the same.
5. More beneficial nutrients in the yoghurt and nuts than in bread.

Yes I find that interesting… I was expecting the ‘fuller for longer’, especially with a full fat greek yoghurt, but that wasn’t my experience unfortunately. For years I had 2 slices of toast, but was frustrated by my T1’s flakiness, and mostly-fine-but-then-really-not dose response. Somewhere between always having frozen/thawed bread (a pandemic hangover) and dropping to one slice of either rye or a multiseed Asda (no mono- or diglycerides of fatty acids) with Oxford Marmalade I found no difference in satiety between one or two slices. I make it through to lunch without any tum rumbles more often than not.

While I really enjoyed my venture into yoghurt-berries-granola-sprinkle, I realised that I was often reaching for a handful of peanuts around 11am with it. Which did come as a surprise!

YDMV and all that 🙂
