Type 2
Both my parents were diabetic Type 2 on metformin. They have been dead for over twenty years; but have just learnt they were encouraged to have four slices of bread a day, a large regular helping of mashed or roast pots. I am still laughing. However what is weird when i recently cleared out the garage I found some of their bg testing notes and it all appeared in non diabetic range. Shame I can't ask them what the hell was going on!

My late dad was type 2 on insulin as couldn't control BG levels with diet/meds alone. He was told to restrict sugar, nothing about carbs. He ate huge amounts of fruit which he was told was healthy and regularly had bread, pasta, rice or potatoes. How things have changed! and his outcome may have been different with a low carb diet. :(
