Hello all!

I have a gene that meant that I was born diabetic as was my Daughter and Grand-daughter, I just cant remember which one it is lol
Does anyone else have this gene? I have never met anyone else who has it. I know it is a very rare gene, or it was when I was diagnosed, and I do believe it is becoming more prevalent, but I wondered if there was anyone else out there who has it. Also, does anyone else have Cheiroarthropathy? That is supposed to be rare too and I have not met another that has it.
Take care all xx

Hi - You are a rare and Unique wonder 🙂.... i only found this info, not sure if its what you are talking about (we have a few people with this on the forum.

MODY is a rare form of diabetes which is different from both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, and runs strongly in families. MODY is caused by a mutation (or change) in a single gene. If a parent has this gene mutation, any child they have, has a 50% chance of inheriting it from them

No @Tee G - the lady has 'Neonatal' diabetes. Since it is so very exceptionally rare, it accounts for only 1 in 100k to 500k (not possible to be more precise since it is so rare!) births.

I've never personally heard of anyone else saying they had it - you may even be an eminent diabetologist and never ever meet one before you pop your own clogs.

If that 'almost unique' family happens to live in your 'patch' - then you will, but not unless.

I've known a number of people who've found it helpful, and also knew a ~practor during my first marriage since he played Badminton with 'the gang'

@trophywench The link it posted included that. More than one 'mutating gene', & I did say, " I wondered if it was that" -

Thank you for finding this! It is not the gene that I have as I have been tested for it. No one else in my family has this gene apart from my daughter and grand daughter, my son does not nor his daughter. I have 6 aunts and one uncle, 26 first cousins and I am the only one with it. A few of my cousins are maturity onset but they are over 50.
