anyone heard seen or even read this book Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year - An Essential Guide for the Newly Diagnosed - Patient-expert Guides by Gretchen Becker if so what did you think ??

I haven't read it, but I have heard that it is good. Could you get a copy from the library to have a look before buying?

i've had a dizzy moment and already bought it online lol, ahh well if it is'nt so good it will teach me to not do it again .

I bought 'The Discovery of Insulin', then realised that I'd already bought it 20 years ago and had it sat there on my bookshelf!😱

Ahh that wont happen to me think last book i bought i was gettin pushed around by my mum in a buggy

I always reckon that Gretchen's book is essential reading for T2s. Oh and I love the way the first chapter is called "its not your fault" I'd like to nail the feet of all journalists to the floor until they have read and digested it.

Also excellent is "Diabetes 101 - what they don't tell you" by Jenny Ruhl.

ahh sounds like it aint bad then this impulsive buy of mine , when i finish it like was suggested i will leave review in book forum bit x

In my opioion it is an excellent book and it has been adpated with the british blood sugar levels, so makes it very easy rading.

oo class well its landing on my doorstep 2morrow morning lol, should prove a good read then

well book arrived an hour ago and i aint put it down yet , well until now while im typing in here 🙂 very good first chapter titled "it's not your fault"

I bought when i was first diagnosed and read it cover to cover. I then re read it a few months later.
it is excellently written book and the author talks a lot of common sense.

Well already im transfixed its nice to have the opinion of an author that actually is a t2 as well

Gretchen's also respected widely around the web, turning up in all sorts of places. Turned up on the BMJ site a while ago when that farce of a study by Farmer et al came out claiming T2s don't need to test cos it does not help A1c (and missing the phrase "if you do **** all with the results" out of the conclusion)

It sounds a great book I have ordered the book and should get it mon or tue

it is donald i am about 3 quarters of the way through i make a point once a day to read 2 chapters i cant put it down lol

great I need plenty info there is a lot to take in and expecting HbA1c result next week.

Theres also a handy table of data on P73 that should give you extra incentive to get your A1c below 6.0 and keep it there permanently 😉
