Mrs Cornish (my dinner lady) used to say spot or a lot when it came to custard! I always went for the a lot option, she used to reserve the skin for me as well!
Mint custard and chocolate coconut squares for me!! Much better than a tuna salad!

Can't remember having salads at school and certainly did not have mayonnaise.

Oh you lucky sods! I never got salads for school dinners! xx

If you count large floppy lettuce leaves from the very outside of the plant (complete with caterpillars), a slice of cucumber and a slice of tomato, a scoop of lumpy mashed potato, all dyed pink from the two slices of beetroot in vinegar as lucky....
Oh, I forgot the protein. Half a hard boiled egg, quartered, so you could get a good view of that black ring you get between the yolk and the white when they’ve been over boiled and left for 24hrs before peeling, together with the odd bit of shell, also all dyed pink from the beetroot...

I just remember liver from school dinners and HAVING to finish it or else! We used to pile it onto the plate of this one girl that loved it, weirdo. 😉

I used to love liver casserole with baked dumplings on the top, my other half does not like liver, so I only occasionally have fried.

I like liver too, sadly never been married to anyone that also did and not having a butcher so only being able to buy it in a quantity to feed a family, I've only about 3 times had it since 1971! and kidneys and heart .......

Years ago in traditional Spanish restaurants they happily served up rinones al Jerez - ie kidney stew well fortified with sherry. Served in a soup bowl with approx a third of a pan de barra (a normal length baguette of fresh bread, only Spanish not French) and eaten with a spoon, using bread to soak up the delish gravy ....... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Glad your experiments are shedding light on things @Type1Pat - and I wouldn’t bolus for that kind of salad either.

Hope you enjoyed your biscuit!
