Hopefully it will have been an improvement on the result when you were diagnosed which would have been over 48mmol/mol and likely quite a bit higher if you were prescribed metformin rather than just trying dietary changes only.Hello. I have T2D for less than a year. I'm taking Metformin twice a day. My most recent blood result was 43. Is this a good result? A happy and healthy New Year to everyone.
Hello. Thanks for the reply. I'm afraid my results have been somewhat inconsistent. Went from 50 to 42 to 37 back to 42 again. I guess I've let things slip with my diet. I'll have to try harder! Thanks again.
If you haven't already seen this link it may give you some ideas for where you could tighten up on your diet and still eatfilling enjoyable meals, it may only need a few modest tweaks. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/Hello. Usually with an HbA1C of below the diagnostic level it is quite unusual to be prescribed metformin before people have made attempts at making dietary changes as that will be just as if not more powerful than metformin.I also had a B/T a few weeks back and mine was 46 so i've been put on Metformin 2 a day but it's upset my tummy with a lot of nausea what i'm wondering will it settle down ? i've been put on it so i dont get diabetes as i have rhumatoid taking 2 injections a week, perhaps someone can answer who's also been on it.
Thank you Leadlights for your reply, re tablets my tummy has settled so i dont know whether it was the tablet or not i was give a dose for 1 a day just before she put me on 2 a day as my b/t hadn't come down much, Re food i've been very careful in what i've eaten, cut sugar out ages ago. I shall certainly look at that web page you sent.Usually with an HbA1C of below the diagnostic level it is quite unusual to be prescribed metformin before people have made attempts at making dietary changes as that will be just as if not more powerful than metformin.
The symptoms you suffered are quite common in some people though they will often tolerate the slow release version better. Taking with food mid meal help. You would also build up the dose from 1 over a few weeks but only when any symptoms settle.
Making some changes to your diet would be worth trying as that alone can prevent you moving into the diabetic zone. This link may give you some ideas.https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
People often have the misapprehension that it is just sugar and sweet things they need to cut out when in actual fact it is all carbohydrates of which sugar is just one that you need to reduce in your diet. A low carb approach is not NO carb but they do need to be reduced and the suggested amount is no more than 130g carbs not just sugar per day.Thank you Leadlights for your reply, re tablets my tummy has settled so i dont know whether it was the tablet or not i was give a dose for 1 a day just before she put me on 2 a day as my b/t hadn't come down much, Re food i've been very careful in what i've eaten, cut sugar out ages ago.
