So this morning I forgot my insulin. Couldn't get home to get it but thought I would be OK as my lunch was a chicken salad so v low carb but a small amount of protein.

It started of at 6mmol. It went up and up until it hit 14mmol at about 12pm. I went for a brisk 20 min walk before eating my salad. It continued to go right up to 19mmol where its now sitting.

My basal is usually correct so any ideas what is going on? Screenshot_20200817-163401_LibreLink.jpg

Hi. I forgot mine at breakfast once but didn't realise. I kept wondering why it was going up and up, went for walks and on the exercise bike but nothing bought it down. Mine too went up to 19. I was at home and it was at lunchtime, i realised that i had forgotten earlier insulin. I needed to correct to bring it back down. That was the only thing that worked for me. When i spoke to my DSN, she said that by forgetting the insulin, my body struggled to bring the level down with just the basal. I'm now paranoid about making sure i've got my insulin with me and double checking to make sure i've taken my bolus.

If your BS goes up over several hours despite eating very little would imply that your Basal dose is too low and not coping with the background output of glucose from the liver?

Hi
It's not clear if you took any bolus insulin at breakfast time and what you had for breakfast or if you skipped it.
Are you quite sure you took your basal insulin?

Also what was your level when you exercised. I’ve been told not to exercise if levels over 14.

I find my body pumps out extra glucose if I miss meals, and if I eat a meal with very low carbs then it turns the protein into glucose which can cause a surprisingly large rise.
