No, its not that flexible, today I going out and from history can go low before tea. Then if I take the usual 1/2 tablet when I get in I might or might not go high after the evening meal.

Plus the random factor of not knowing how I will perform with gliclazide with the same food just on different days is any ones guess.

To try and self monitor whats going to happen, thinking of cutting the lunch time 1/2 tablet out and see what that does to the levels over a week or so.

Did not go well, HbA1c 46, full blood count up for once to 127, weight up as I already knew, kidney function down. :( :( :(

Told to loose weight, cut portion sizes again, BP not checked, told to do more exersise, though not at the moment due to bad back.

Another prescription for the infection, which both of us forgot about at the end.

Still on the gliclazide, got to try and judge when and how much to take.

As if I am not already struggling with finding foods that I like without salt.

Sorry to hear it didn't go well Pav.

When it comes to portion sizes, surely it's the carbs you would need to reduce (no idea how that works with Glic!) but you might be able to add fats and some protein (tho not much of that sadly if kidneys are struggling :( ) to boost satiety?

How frustrating, Pav. Sorry to hear it didn't go so well. Sounds like you're determined to solve the problem, tho. 😱 Good luck...🙂

Sorry to hear that you're having such a rotten time. I really hope that somehow things start to get better for you {{{{{Pav}}}}}

I really do not understand why they will not try other medication as you are clearly not happy and the gliclazide is to up and down? :confused:

Is there no one else you can approach?...maybe ask to be referred to a diabetic consultant?....end of the day if you are gaining weight from the gliclazide and cannot get control of your blood levels then this is not the drug for you?? 😡

Just got the feeling today they were trying to give me the brush off. Had 1/2 a tablet this morning, lunch had bacon sarnie which I know sends me low not high. Around 4:30 went fairly close to hypo 4.6 (if no food eaten would of gone hypo within a very short time) as was out had a bacon, sausage and egg wrap with a few chips no gliclazide taken.

Been close to 5.0 most of the afternoon with a peak of 7.9 and a dip to 4.6 got home was 5.1and had 2 slices of toast and now running at 9.4 no gliclazide taken.

Yesterday taking the full amount of gliclazide was in the 5.0's to 7.0's all through out the day, with less food. The heat has knocked my levels down compared to a cool day making it harder to know what my levels will be.

The other problem I have been getting is hypo warnings when in the higher 5.0's, the other day ignored what I thought was a false hypo, only to feel a bit more grotty and was actually hypo at 3.6.

Sorry to hear you feel they were trying to give you the brush off, Pav. Especially since you seem so determined to sort out this problem. Some medics should have a nose around on this forum ev now and then. Maybe it would help them to do their job better. 😱

Sorry to hear you haven't made any progress with the medics. It's annoying when they don't seem to listen. There is so much good information on this forum but if I mention the internet in relation to diabetes information .... Well I won't do it again in a hurry. I hope you get sorted out soon Pav.
