Blood pressure was high on diagnosis and still high a couple of weeks ago. So I was given a digital monitor to take home for 48 hours of readings - average was 158/89 so was back at the GP today for an action plan.
She's given me Ramipril and started me on 2.5mg for the first 4 weeks (monitoring during this time - blood test for kidney function after 2 wks, BP check during week 3 and then again at the end of the 4th week when I see the Dr again) then she's expecting to increase the dose. She said she's likely to increase it in stages until we get to 10mg a day and will keep checking my kidney function & BP along the way .... I'll get an invite to the surgery Xmas party at this rate!
She didn't really cover when to take it though. She talked about a common side effect in terms of "if you're going to faint when you're on this, it's usually on the first dose, so if you get up in the night put the light on just in case". I assume that means I should take it at bed time?
Is anyone else on this who can advise me if there is a best time to take it?
Thanks!
