i know if you are on insulin u cant give blood wot if you are on byretta does anyone know

I dont know, but would assume it would be OK, as taking byetta doesn't put the patient in direct risk of hypo.......

which is the main reason that insulin treated patients cannot donate blood.....

I went with an ex to a blood donating session the once as she used to give every year. I assumed I could'nt but thought Id ask the nurse if I could, but really wanting to know the reason why I couldnt just out of interest.

her response was that someone could catch diabetes from my blood whilst looking at me as if to say, isnt that obvious?....

Ill leave it at that, and no, im not joking!!

b) If controlled by diet or oral medication or injectable medication other than insulin, e.g. Exenatide (Byetta?) or Liraglutide (Victoza?), that has not been changed in type or dose in the last four weeks, accept.

....Unbelievable! 😡........I miss giving blood ever since being diagnosed.

Good for you Gail 🙂 I was a blood donor before diagnosis, slightly annoying that I can't donate any more
