I am not sure if its my imagination but I swear sometimes my blood looks a darker red than it does at other times on my finger prick.
It also seems a bit watery at times, it seems the darker red it is the thicker the blood seems to be.
Anyone else noticed this.

Definitely although sometimes it is because I haven’t dried my hands properly but yes often a different shade of red ( would that make a good book Title?) lol

Bright red blood is full of oxygen and is from an artery. Dark red blood has had the oxygen removed by the body cells and is from a vein. So it just depends exactly which blood vessel you have managed to stab this time!

I don't care what colour it is as long as I can get some. More than a pinprick would be wonderful. 🙂

Yep, mine changes colour all the time. I was hoping it was because some of it was fizzy and the other stuff still, but I think that might be wishful thinking on my part.o_O

Arteries tend to be very deep - I can still remember when I got diagnosed and was lying in A&E and the doctor tried to get some arterial blood from my wrist 😱 I couldn't believe how much it hurt and wondered why he was hurting me so much! 😱 (I was totally out of it at the time, with DKA). It is true though that bright red blood is more oxygenated - mine is bright red after a run, but much darker when I've been slobbing out on the couch :D
