Relationship to Diabetes

With the aim of recording details of my first year with diabetes, and flexing my writing muscles again, I have begun what I believe is accurately referred to as medblogging.

http://instructionsni.blogspot.com/

This is my blog - if you're interested in following it, I'd value your reading it. Only one, veeeeeery long entry so far. But they will get shorter, and probably more interesting. I'm hoping to update daily, when that's possible.

Ta! :D

what a great idea sacred x it is a real interesting read

keep up the good write so to speak :D

will check it out later. I am so bad at blogging I start make about 3 entries and then lose motivation. Think it's a good idea though, because I do like reading back my old posts

Just read it - great idea, you've inspired me! I might try the same thing, from a diagnosed 13-yrs-ago point of view!!

I'd love to have the vBulletin 'blogging' module in this forum, but it's beyond my control, unfortunately - hopefully something for the future! I will read your blog soon, just off out for a run before it gets too hot out there!🙂

I don't know a huge amount about it at the moment katie, but this is their sales pitch (it's an add-on to the VBulletin suite that powers this and many other forums):

vBulletin Blog is a fully featured blogging add-on that enables community members to create their very own online blogs within vBulletin. Giving members a place to post thoughts, ideas and musings will keep users returning to the community again and again, and advanced administration features allow forum owners and moderators to keep control and integrate Blog into vBulletin?s existing look and feel.

vBulletin Blog makes it simple for community members to create their own space within the community. Getting started is as simple as posting the first message (using the same familiar vBulletin editor). There is no lengthy setup process - blog owners are free to personalise their blog at any time by defining a title and a description that will appear at the top of every blog post.

I guess it would be down to Admin and whether DUK wanted to fund it (no idea of cost), but personally I think it would be a great addition to the site!🙂

Yeah it sounds like it would be good 🙂

I'm still waiting for you to start your blog Northe 😉

Hi Becky,
I have just read your blog - and found it really interesting and very sad at the same time. I think its great idea to get all your feelings etc out there as i feel sure it will help others understand how awful it feels to be diagnosed - but also the aftermath and hopefully your plans of how to cope with it all in the future. Well done!:D Bev

Becky

That was a great read and I think many PWD will look back upon with their own stories with regards to the lead up to the diagnosis of diabetes.

Hope you provide with more entertaining reads soon..

great blog becky :D i was thinking of doing something like that myself when i move soon. i might be able to do it when im sat on the sandy beach outside my house hehehehehehehehe

but seriously it is nice to hear that you can talk about your diabetes and you diagnosis.

Good Blog Sacred.

Good idea and well written as well which makes it an interesting read. We have all been diagnosied at some stage and I think all go through different emotions so this is a good way to express them and may be get it off your chest.

Keep the blogs coming and I look forward to keeping up to date with it. 🙂

Yes - excellent stuff! Might be an idea to add the website address to your signature so it's easy to find.

Not a bad idea! Done it, although my signature won't let me use a direct URL, so I've had to put quotes on it. Touch annoying, as it looks pretty clunky! C'est la vie though. 🙂

I'll see if there's a way to do it. You can add it to your profile, I believe.

wow great read, even a great written piece, looking forward to your next installment.

Hi SacredHeart,

Just read your blog and have to say you have a very amusing style of writing.

Particuarly liked the AA style introduction and the bit about "taking the diagnosis like an adult.....for the first 30 seconds"

Look forward to reading more of your blogs and you know where we are if you have any questions.

P.S Northerner - vBulletin Blog costs ?33 according to their site. Also, is there any way for the Admin's to turn on RSS? (which is free and included in vBulletin but switched off by default)

Sounds reasonable! I think, for the time being, Admin would like the place to stay just as it is until the options can be examined thoroughly - one of the great things about this site is that it is very accessible and simple to use, and there's a danger of losing that and its appeal to people less savvy with the ins and outs of the interweb and forums🙂

Well done on your blog, Sacred. Interesting reading! 🙂
