Not impressed with myself!

I wore a new pair of shoes this week (nice strappy sandals if anyone cares!), and got myself a lovely blister.
Just in time for my first appointment at my new clinic on Monday 🙄

I'm preparing myself for a lecture. And a catalogue of sensible shoes.

There are some excellent blister plasters available these days that can heal them really fast - might make it before Monday! Have a look in the pharmacy, Compeed is a good one 🙂

I've never used them - might give them a go! What do they actually do?

Had a wee moment crying yesterday about losing my foot. My boyfriend was not impressed at my dramatics 🙄

They're great, they take pressure off the blister so the goo is reabsorbed, if you catch it quick they work really well. Plus they stop infection so foot loss is unlikely🙂. Although make sure it's clean before you apply of course. I love those things!

I do a lot of running and used to get quite a few blisters that would be sore and sorry for ages, but these amazed me how quickly they worked 🙂 Have a look at this:

There's a button below each type with reviews and how they work. There are other brands available - I don't work for them! 🙂

"These days"?!!!! Compeed has been around for years - I used to use that back in the mid 80's when I was a much fitter person and went hiking regularly! It's good stuff 🙂

I was born in the 50s, they're new-fangled to me 😉

I've never used Compeed but the Savlon ones and Tesco's own are very good, I presume they are all very similar! Whatever it is inside them heals the blister really quickly.

Wish I had got a few of these last year. Went to T in the Park (& took my tights off): No socks + wellies + extreme heat = I didn't really have any soles left on my feet

There's a pleasant image for you all :D

Thanks for the heads up Sally. Tesco might be getting a visit soon.

I've used the Compeed ones a couple of times since someone on here recommended them. They really did the job after I got blisters trying to break in a new pair of walking boots..

Miss Melissa, don't give up on lovely girly shoes. Get the blister plasters. No need to go sensible if it means boring and it's not your style. We may have diabetes but that doesn't mean we can't have pretty feet/shoes as long as we take care. I think I'll probably be at my own funeral in my high heeled wedges!:D

Oh hear hear.

I've bought a lovely pair of flat little summer shoes from Marks, really girly ones even though they are closed in. Cushioned insoles and soft leather.

Worn em once - about 3-4 weeks ago - the scabs from where they took the skin off my heels rubbing them, still haven't gone. I've bought some heel grips to try in them, in the hope it will iron out where the binding on the edge fits.

Well said! :D

Compeed plasters are brilliant. I managed to get a blister between my toes a couple of weeks ago and it was so sore. I used them for about four of days and it went and the relief from the pain was instant. They come in various sizes. Asda sell them and are cheaper than Boots. I am keeping some here in future. Hope it heals soon 🙂
