My right foot was painful yesterday. When I bathed it last night I noticed a large blister between my toes. I know that is not good but I don't know how to care for it. Any advice?

Compeed blister plasters are a godsend if you can get one into the tootsie gap. I get loads of the things and compeed sorts them out. They also do a sort of second skin spray thing in boots but I've never managed to get that to work. Hope it doesn't cause you too much trouble 🙂

I had a golf ball size one the other month for no reason I could think of for getting one, and went to the local drop in gp practice who cleaned it and put the blistered skin back in place with stera strips and sorted out the right dresssings.

Then referred back to my own gp nurses who continued to apply new dressings and some stuff to reduce the chance of infection, it took over a month to heal :(

The podiatrist also said at my foot review, I should of called them to see if they needed to check on things, in case there is any more nerve damage.

The thing I've found most helpful in preventing blisters between toes (my middle toe on each foot tucks under second toe and always get blisters), especially when running or hiking long distances are toe socks eg http://www.injinji.com/

Having got a blister, try to prevent skin breaking, by wrapping blistered toe very carefully (no creases nor wrinkles) with thin tape eg Micropore type. Compeed is excellent, but more for blisters on heel, balls of feet etc than for blisters on toes.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply to me. The blister is between the little toe and the next one. I think that the compeed plasters will all be too big, so I am going to try the tape. I was hoping to go on a walking weekend next week but I might have to pull out if it does not heal quickly :( I'll go to the walk in centre if it looks infected. Your advice is much appreciated 🙂
