Looks like a bumper crop this year. Now we are retired we have all day to pick and freeze loads. I like ice cream on my Blackberry and apple crumble, how about you? What are your favourite toppings?

visited the Hidden Valleys garden at Par in Cornwall yesterday and pick your own fruit...The sun was shining and the afternoon was spent picking blackcurrants and gooseberries for tea.......yummy

We make apple and blackberry crumbles in take away foil trays, then freeze. From freezer to ready to eat takes about 45 mins in oven.

Whatever blackberries we get always go into jam (with much reduced sugar). Keeps us going until Christmas :D

Take away foil trays...never thought of that one, thanks Copepod.

One of our Nigel Slater books has a lovely dessert with 'hedgerow' type gathered fruits washed and put in little individual foil parcels with a blob of jam/splash of brandy then baked in the oven at a high heat for 5-10 minutes. As you unwrap your own parcel and pour the juicy berries into a bowl with ice cream/cream waiting you get the most amazing smell rising up in the steam. Mmmmmmmmmm!

Am I the only one who thought this was going to be another smartphone thread? 😉
