Hello again,

So I'm still slaving away at this assignment. Been trying to avoid drinking coffee as it makes me soooooo tired afterwards. But I'm tempted to have a little just to perk me up and keep me going.

HOWEVER, I have read various conflicting reports that on the one say black coffee is ok or in fact good for T2 Diabetes. And other reports saying drinking highly concentrated black coffee on a regular basis increases insulin resistance. I certainly don't drink coffee or black coffee often but on occasions like these I do sometimes drink a highly concentrate amount in a cup. I'm wondering whether to do so as I'm fearful of the effects. Any advice? Thanks.

All depends on what it does to your own metabolism. I never drink black, or very strong coffee deliberately, so dunno what it might do to mine let alone anyone else's. Gimme a flat white. Happy with instant too.

I sometimes get a little bump from the caffeine in a coffee shop coffee, but nothing noticeable from my weekend cafetiere morning coffees.

Do you have a BG meter? Easiest thing would be to try it and check to see what happens to your levels 🙂

It's strange. The other day I drank a really concentrated cup of black coffee and the next morning my BG was 4.2. I have been a bit indulgent in my diet last few days basically no carbs but overdoing the non-carb snacking which I shouldn't re: calories but I seem to be keeping the weight off. I've brewed a strong flask for the assignment. Must get through it.

I drink decaff coffee but no more than 2 a day, but cannot drink it black so I have a dash of cream in it. Like that I do not need any sweetener.

I drink a whole lot of coffee & I've never noticed any impact on my BG levels.
