I could think of so many possible responses… “oh I don’t remember seeing you at my last doctor’s appointment? You weren’t there? Well you don’t have a clue what you are talking about then, do you”
But you’re right, people like that think they know it all and won’t listen so probably best to ignore them! Doesn’t make it any less irritating though. My daughter has many additional health problems now (nothing to do with diabetes, that’s actually the easy bit compared to the rest) and I’m getting so fed up with people telling me all about what she should be thinking and feeling and how we should be dealing with it, when they don’t live with her, have never been to any sort of medical appointment with her, and as far as I know have had nothing happen in their own life which even remotely resembles what we’ve had to go through the last few years. Yet they still sit there all smugly thinking they know best (my own mum is one of them occasionally). It does make me more aware of what I say to other people though, and try not to jump to conclusions when you don’t know the whole story. We all like to think that we understand about cancer, heart problems, (insert any random medical condition here), but until you’ve actually lived it, you don’t know anything!
