Hellooo all,

I'm having a very bad week!! Thought I would have a bit of a rant!
I have been very emotional this week!! I'm just so fed up of all the up and downs of my sugar levels! I have been bored and can't think of anything to do so I end up just worrying about diabetes.. My hair is still falling out and to be honest I just want a day off =(

I have been quite moody and my other half is having trouble dealing with it, I have tried cheering up but I just can't seem too so we have had a few disagreements. I can't really explain how I'm feeling just really fed up I guess =( I don't think he understands how much the diabetes is getting me down and is getting frustrated with me...

Any advice on how to cheer up would be lovely =)

Also I hope you have all been well as I haven't been on in a while!! Sorry the first thing I do is rant!!

Sorry to hear that you're feeling so fed up. It's really annoying how diabetes can do this to us. To cheer yourself up can you plan a special treat such as going out for a meal or going shopping? Looking at holiday stuff always cheers me up even though I hardly ever go away:D and of course it is nearly Christmas:D:D

I have done all my christmas shopping (and yes it did cheer me up!!) Thanks for the advice I also do not go away a lot but I will be visiting my mamma soon which will be nice!! =)

Visiting mums is always good. Mine lives 120 miles away so I don't see her as much as I would like but mum (and dad) will be here in a fortnight and I can't wait. I hope that you have a good trip to your mamma

Yeah my mamma lives about that too! Since I was diagnosed though she has started to visit me instead of making me visit her all the time which is nice!! =)

Sorry that your diabetes is getting you down. You are still early in the process and grieving for the life you thought you had. I know it sounds strange but being diagnosed with a life long condition can be like a bereavement and its common for people to get depressed.

Someone once said to me get upset with x as thats normal but try not to get upset with yourself for getting upset as that will just add to things. Easier said than done I know.

Have you spoken to your Dr or GP as they may be able to refer you to a counsellor - some clinics have numbers for them. You may not need that. Or maybe you or you OH could try the diabetes uk careline.

Hope you feel better soon - would scented candles and/or a bubble bath help?

Hi hunni! We really don't mind a rant as I am sure we all come in and have a rant every now and then. I know exactly what you mean about your moods as I have been having one for the past few days but I am lucky as I don't have anyone to take the brunt of it apart from the cat and the teddy bear and he doesnt mind been thrown up the wall in frustration, I am sure the cat would have sooooooo much to say if I tried it on her!!! You will have to explain to your partner that the moods that you are suffering all come from your diabetes and that it is acting up at the moment. You could ask him to help with your battle with your control too, I am sure he now knows nearly as much as you do about diabetes and it's control. After all, if he helps with pin pointing the problem it brings him a happier life and you get your good moods back again! Sometimes the moods and blood swings just have to be ridden through until they sort themselves out again but it shouldn't be long. Good luck xxx

Thanks guys =)

My other half prob knows more about my diabetes! haha a couple of times I have been confused as he has reminded me of things!! The onther day my sugar levels were going up even though I had not been eating and he kindly reminded me that my liver is still producing sugar... DOH! =)

Ha Ha I must admit I have thrown a couple of teddies and played tug of war with my dog a couple of times! to try get some frustration out! =P

I do miss my old life (Mostly eating all the junk food and not having a care in the world! lol)

I'm glad you are feeling better. When I am feeling really down and fed up with things there are a few things that help lift my mood. I do enjoy a good book, so an hour reading, a happy CD while I am working (50's and 60's music works for me), a nice cup of tea while I watch the world go by or a good weepy film amd a big box of kleenex. I find watching a weepy film that will make me cry helps me bawl all the frustrations out.

By the way (should have said this first) it is OK to have a moan or a rant, we all need to from time to time and we do understand how you feel.

Better to throw teddies (real or metaphorical!) than the dog, and better to play tug of war with a dog than fight human other half! 🙂

Personally, going for a bike ride often releases any frustration - unless a pillock of a motorist/ cyclist / pedestrian makes the frustration worse! 🙂

Seriously, once you get organised so that an insulin kit and blood glucose meter go everywhere with you, then it becomes a lot easier. For me, having one kit in kitchen (short acting insulin), one in bedroom (long acting & meter) and one for out and about (short acting in pen, with spare cartridge of short & long acting, all in a cheap pencil case, plus meter and a small bag of sweets and a couple of muesli bars, all in pocket of rucksack which I use must of the time, but can move items to another bag if needed) works well and I've never been without kit when I need.

You have a very supportive other half! Go him! 🙂
Just make sure your honest about your feelings with everyone, even the GP/Endo, they can help you out! At least you have found this here which is always a great source of support. There are also Circle D groups, not sure where your from but worth having a search round facebook.

About your hair.. I had this problem terribly! I was like a golden retriever. At the moment i'm (supposed to be) taking Hair Skin and Nails tablets by Solgar (i.e. not the one with the fancy looking packet) as I still get hair loss and its so thin now considering what it was like :(

Good Luck 🙂 x
