Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hello. I feel really stupid doing my very first time at chatting online. I recently found this website when I was trying desperately to find information/support for people with prediabetes. I was diagnosed in november 2014 and told to lose weight and good luck by my G.P. Consequently I had a major panic attack being told that there was no support from the NHS if you have my problem. So I really just wanted to say thankyou, thankyou, thankyou for all your posts, its great to finally get some information. Love Bigbirdy

Hi Bigbirdy, welcome to the forum 🙂 There's some very poor advice that gets handed out about diabetes from those healthcare professionals who are supposed to be helping us! Lots of friendly support here from all the lovely, knowledgeable members - good to have you on board 🙂 Any questions or concerns, fire away! 🙂

Hi Bigbirdy and welcome.🙂

I've certainly learned as much from this forum as I have from any Dr or nurse.

Welcome to the forum bigbirdy 🙂

Welcome to the forum, bigbird. As you mention that your doctor told you to lose weight, you will probably find the Weight Loss Group especially useful. It's a shame that GP didn't use a few more words to explain that reducing weight to nearer BMI 20 - 25 (even though it's a crude, imperfect, measure) can make all the difference, and if you can achieve thus, your pre-diabetes mst never become type 2 diabetes. In some areas, GPs can refer to weight loss classes for cheaper than usual prices, or even free, so if you think that could help you, then do ask GP.
