Relationship to Diabetes

Morning, Could anyone give advice on what are the best/most accurate BG monitors as I think I am going to buy one as I would like to know what foods affect my BG levels. I see the DN tomorrow but I am sure she will say I don't need one but really want to understand my Diabetes and how things affect me. I have been doing so well on the 800cals diet and have found it easy, I think it is because I now know I need to lose weight as apposed to yoyo dieting like I have done for years.

I feel very positive and my aim is to push this into remission, my levels are at low 55 but I do need to lose a lot of weight so this is my mission right now.

I am so grateful for this site as I have gained so much information from you all so thank you everyone. Being diagnosed only a couple of weeks ago really did scare me and now I feel better about the whole situation.

Morning, I was recommended the Gluco navii and another one, the Spirit Tee 2. I got the Gluco and it's easy to use. They all have to conform to the British Standard, so should be as accurate as each other. The cost of test strips adds up, and these two are the most economical at the moment.
I'm doing the 800 cals diet too, easier than I thought it would be too - best wishes on your diet.
Let us know if you need any help or advice with the BG monitor.
Sarah
PS glad that you're feeling better, the first week or two are the worst.

Don’t forget to tick the box about being diabetic as it saves you vat I think.

I use the predecessor to the GlucoSavii and it’s fine. Cheap test strips are important as you get through loads!

Yes i second what others have suggested. The two most often recommended on the forum are the SD Gluco Navii or the Spirit Tee2 - which both have test strips at around £8 for 50.

They appear to give reliable, consistent results, within the +/-10% ISO requirement.

Some other brands may have benchmark tests that show greater accuracy, but their strips can be £25 or more per pot of 50 - so 3x the price!
