Vince, I don't know if this is of interest to you or not but I will tell you anyway. On Christmas day, myself and my husband and his elderly aunt were all together for the full day. It was my first Christmas since dx. At my aunt in law's suggestion, all 3 of us did a fingerprick test before the big meal. I was 5.2, they were both 5.5 (I should add they are both non diabetic). 2 hours after Christmas lunch, they were both still 5.5 and I was 6.4, and I'd had only 1 potato and less gravy than them, but lots more veg! I think this demonstrates the tight control non diabetics have of their blood glucose, and diabetics don't. By the way, we used clean lancets each time!!!

I've done similar tests with my wife with a Belgian bun. Her BG was actually slightly higher than mine before bun. Can't remember all the exact figures, but 1 hour after bun, we were both in the high 8's. This shows non-D's can go higher than is often stated. But after 2 hours, she was back down into the 5's. whilst I was still flying high in the high 7's.

Love these little scientific tests!!! This is a frustrating but fascinating disease !!!

Well no Adele - his meter was merely reminding him yet again he's diabetic, so just doing what it was supposed to - along with demonstrating that his wife isn't at the same time.

Though I actually do agree that D is frustrating sometimes! 😉
