I feel like Yosemite Sam on a bad day.

Just done a BG test. I did a re test washing my hands again and the same result of 17.9!!!

I've not had anything too heavily laden in carbs for ages as I'm a born again bunny rabbit. (Salad muncher). OK I had some red wine last evening.

So I can't go walkies to burn some of that off as I understand it's a no no to exercise on a high BG. So I'm angry I can't do what I would passionately want to do and that's have an insulin correction dose. I would lose my job if I did.

If I had sinned in some way I would understand and feel responsible for it. But I haven't. I don't want complications and sooner than necessary.

Bum, drat, knickers, *******, %$!*%@$%.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! 😱😱😱😱

Tez, I'm sorry to hear this, I can't imagine what can have happened  I'm not entirely sure whether the 'not exercising' applies to you as a Type 2 on oral meds, and whether it's really only a problem for those on insulin. I could be wrong though. Perhaps you are dehydrated and have an illness starting? I'd drink plenty of water and have another test in an hour - hope it's heading down by then. Remember this is a one off, and a lot of people get unexplained shockers from time to time - yours truly included!

Hi Tez, any chance you have left your meter or strips in direct heat so a false reading?
Can you try a dif box of strips?

Hi Why would you lose your job if you had insulin??? Feeling really sorry for you. As far I'm aware you can exercise if you have high BGs but not if you have ketones.

Tez is a bus driver AJ. I think that if you are injecting/pumping insulin you are not supposed to exercise above a certain level (around 17, I think), whether you have ketones or not, as your levels will be pushed higher due to lack of sufficient circulating insulin. I'm not sure how it works with a T2 who is still producing their own insulin.

Job could be professional driver or eg SAS man, a test pilot, diver etc ! LOL

These driving restrictions are a nightmare, poor Tez! didn't know about exercise and over 17 but guess that is because Im lucky enough to inject insulin when I'm that high and then exercise to make it work more quickly
