I know the normal times for testing are before a meal and two hours after. I wondered though if sometimes it may be worth checking 1 hour after a meal in case a food causes a spike and then drops back to more normal levels after two hours in some cases.

When I relied on finger pricks to find out where I spiked I sometimes did a three hour check as well. I mainly did this if I was eating fatty
foods or when I had an higher than expected 2 hr test .

I don’t even test now 2 hours after each meal know what my diet is comfortable with always just test before have my meal or before go to bed don’t think you need to do it every hour or two you will have very sore fingers!!

Thanks Matthew. The reason I am going back to regular testing is that I got out of pre-diabetes but it has gone up again. I have decided I must be doing something wrong so thought if I checked after 3 as well as 2 I might find what is spiking. I thought maybe something is spiking after 3 hours but looks fine after two.
