Hi Everyone🙂🙂

I've just received a letter about my first appointment for a pump. I've got to visit websites to research the following four pumps:

Veo pump
Roche combo system
Vibe pump
Myomnipod

Which is the best pump available out of the ones above?

What ever pump you choose you will love 🙂
Most pumpers love the pump they have when they have had no other to compare with.
So look at them all and decide which one you want.

Thanks. I'm surprised that I've got a choice🙂

I didn't get a choice with mine but I agree with sue.

I "like" (ok Im geeky) with what my pump meter has settings for & the graphics etc

Good luck with your research 🙂

I had a choice of medtronic or omnipod. But agree whatever you choose you will love as you won't have had experience of the others.

I went for the medtronic in the end.

Following on from my original post, there has been a lot of negative reports about the Myomnipod pump just lately in that the pods are failing 4 out of 10 pods. This is not good and is enough to put anyone off of a pump esp a new pumper. The company are aware of the problem but don't think it's anything to be concerned about according to the users from a USA site 😱 On that failure rate I wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

What Sue says is absolutely correct.

I love mine - the Roche Combo. I've never had another sort. It's certainly slightly bigger than the Animas or Medtronic ones - but not hugely. It comes in a choice of black, black or black, just like the first Ford !

But there again, I certainly would NOT want a gurly pink one. Other colours are available in other pumps!

The Animas is the only one that's waterproof out of the 3 'tubed' ones. But there again, I only immerse myself for short periods - so it wouldn't be an issue at all for me.

Come to a forum meet and meet some pumps?

If your Diabetic nurses are used to a certain type ? My nurses use medtronic & if i want to know something about the functions there is no prob. Good luck 🙂

I love my spirit combo by accu-chek. It's a great remotely controlled pump. Accu-chek has a fantastic customer service too, they are always willing to help with any problems you could get. All these things should be taken into account when making such an important decision.

I think you'll find all pump companies offer a similar service re helplines etc, and the people who use them are as enthusiastic as you and I may be about Roche.

It's a shame there isn't an INPUT event near you soon, think Truro is the next one.

What info have hospital provided to help you choose? I mean they can't just send you off with a list, you have to see them all demonstrated, and handle them - surely?

My hospital only use one sort, but do loan you an old one for a week, the buttons work and you have cannulas and tubing, just an empty reservoir - but you have to use it manually and you instruct it to bolus and play with all the functions, whilst actually still on MDI. This is to get used to wearing it, having it in bed with you, taking it off and on and all that - BEFORE you actually say 'Right - I'd like one please'
