Thank you! :D

'Gut' by Giulia Enders - you really must read this brilliant book! All about the digestive system, brilliantly written - chapter titles like 'How does pooing work?' and 'A few facts about faeces' 😱 🙂 Not just about poo of course, but explains all about food and its journey through our bodies, not technical and written with great humour 🙂

Really, I have rarely read a book where I have learned something new with practically every paragraph, quite superb! 🙂
Oh, I had a look at it in Waterstone's and thought it looked like dumbed-down twaddle. I'll have another look at it then. Love the Bristol Scale - it'd make great downstairs loo wallpaper, n'est-ce pas?

Easy, the Schmidt Pain Index, a scale of the painfulness of insect stings. Aside from its brilliant descriptions, the guy who invented it did so by getting pretty much every single insect to sting him first for comparative purposes.

http://scienceblogs.com/retrospectacle/2007/05/16/schmidt-pain-index-which-sting/

1.0 Sweat bee: Light, ephemeral, almost fruity. A tiny spark has singed a single hair on your arm.
1.2 Fire ant: Sharp, sudden, mildly alarming. Like walking across a shag carpet & reaching for the light switch.
1.8 Bullhorn acacia ant: A rare, piercing, elevated sort of pain. Someone has fired a staple into your cheek.
2.0 Bald-faced hornet: Rich, hearty, slightly crunchy. Similar to getting your hand mashed in a revolving door.
2.0 Yellowjacket: Hot and smoky, almost irreverent. Imagine WC Fields extinguishing a cigar on your tongue.
2.x Honey bee and European hornet.
3.0 Red harvester ant: Bold and unrelenting. Somebody is using a drill to excavate your ingrown toenail.
3.0 Paper wasp: Caustic & burning. Distinctly bitter aftertaste. Like spilling a beaker of Hydrochloric acid on a paper cut.
4.0 Pepsis wasp: Blinding, fierce, shockingly electric. A running hair drier has been dropped into your bubble bath (if you get stung by one you might as well lie down and scream).
4.0+ Bullet ant: Pure, intense, brilliant pain. Like walking over flaming charcoal with a 3-inch nail in your heel.

Deusybaby I think that there may be something you ain't telling us. C'mon now you are amongst friends. Have you been bitten on your indifference or stung on your a*se?

Honestly, it's really good - I read a LOT of books, and this is one of the most interesting I have read in quite a while. 🙂 Like the wallpaper idea, I wonder if anyone wouldn't check 'after'? 😱 :D

Don't leave me this way Stacey, I have to know what it is?
Haha seriously it's nothing like Northerner's offering!

It's a book called "Falling Sideways" by Tom Holt. Lots of Frogs in it and by the end you wonder if you even actually understood the book at all

Is it a bit like turd of toad hall?????

Sorry I just couldn't resist that one😛

Or, you could do what I did in my shared student house years ago and put it up as a tickbox poster on the back of the toilet room door, with a prize of a box of chocolates for the first person to 'collect' all seven....

TMI?

Sounds like something I could try at work for a giggle!

Hmm...wouldn't fancy doing the judging! 😱 🙂

Well yes, I trust your judgement, you ol' bookworm, you, so Waterstone's here I come!😛

I believe number two is out soon and then they're publishing a turd one!

"Dr" Gillian McKeith would be up for it, as long as they're in a Tupperware box! Joking apart, I am interested, as you know I'm a martyr to my bowels, where did you buy it? Did it come delivered in plain brown paper? :-D

Get Gillian McKeith in for the judging - she used to love rummaging around in people's faeces. Ugh!😱
Great minds think alike! Crossover!
