BERTIE/DAFNE course - Essex

Hi guys and gals....

I start this course next Friday and I'm so excited!! My diabetes centre run their own course which they call BERTIE (can't remember what it stands for, sorry), and run it one day a week for 4 weeks.

I wondered if anyone on here would be on the same course or not? Would be great if anyone was.

Just looking forward to have somewhere to start from and getting my diabetes under better control

There are quite a few forum users who have done DAFNE courses and benefited from them. Someone will be along soon who'll be able to tell you more.

From what others have said, you will learn a lot from the course and enjoy it very much

Best i can work out BERTIE is Bournemouth Type 1 Intensive Education

Not sure where the E and R came from... Endocrine?

Steff's is right Mike - Broomfield is the name of my hospital...I'm definitely not going to Bournemouth for 4 afternoons!! lol

I did ask the DSN's at Broomfield if there were any diabetes education courses, but that question was deftly moved past. Possibly they only run courses for those on insulin

Last time I was in Broomfield (August) I dropped a few poster prints for the forums on the desk with all the leaflets in the waiting room (the posters shown on the downloads page).

In true frustrating style.... my blood test results have been LOST! I start my BERTIE course this Friday and I now don't have time to get another blood test done.

So annoyed

I'd get on to them & tell them to find them pronto! 😡

Things in the medical profession can not just get lost. There will be a record somewhere. Monday morning can't be bothered syndrome imo.
