I am hearing more comments about unripe Jackfruit and the benefits to diabetics. There are numerous articles on Google but i thought i would ask here as previous advice has always been helpful.
It appears once the fruit ripens the benefits are lost.

Me neither.

It seems quite high in carbs but this could be measuring the ripe fruit ?

I've heard of it but never tried it or even seen it anywhere. I was looking through recipes fairly recently and it is used to make a veggie pulled pork substitute.

I saw it in the new non meat section in Sainsburys along with cauliflower steak, think it was a burger made from jackfruit. I didn't look too closely as was too interested in the Cauli steak! Will report back on this.

Abel&cole £2.99 would have to be good! Supposed to be fruit that tastes like meat. That’s why vegans use it. Defeats the object to me. If you abhor eating meat why use a substitute that tastes like it.

Some people like the taste but don't agree with killing animals. I used to work with a confirmed carnivore who liked the taste of rabbit but refused to eat it after he got a pet rabbit. He still ate all other forms of meat.

I have eaten it, it is very popular in Asia especially in Thailand and very easy to get sells in most supermarkets.
Widely available in Shanghai but in the ripe form, not sure about the unripe variety.
Will suss it out when I get back at the end of the month.
Another one to try is Okra but don't eat vegetable, just soak it overnigt in water in the fridge and drink the water in the morning.
I did try that but stopped when I was taking Metformon incase had any effects but again when I am back I will start that again. Okra grows virtually wild in China and is extrermely inexpensive. Here it is off the map prices and not easy to locate.

I've not come across jackfruit either.

Just going off topic for a moment, I hadn't really thought about cauliflower steaks before, certainly not seen them ready prepared. Anyhoo, I came across this recipe recently and tried it last week, was very nice and certainly more filling than it looks in the picture. Thought it might be of interest to you @New-journey

Can the OP post a link to wherever he's got the info from that it lowers BG - I mean if I'd seen such an article from a trusted source, then I'd have heard of the thing, so I can only imagine it isn't a trusted diabetes source in the UK .....

Sorry, those aren't trusted diabetes sources.

Is there any info coming out of a trusted site. It is obvious there are some general benefits I.e. hi fibre, various vitamins etc
