Before being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes I drank a whisky glass of beetroot juice a day.
Is this ok?
What about other juices?
My failing was I used to dring half a pint of orange juce (pressed stuff with bits) not no more.
I am told nuts are good as a snack thats good I eat them all the time.
What about roasted cashew nuts?
What about the nuts with raisins?
Sorry for the dopey quetions but having only been diagnosed a wek ago I am keen on feelin better
Thanks
Fred

If you like beetroot juice - I suppose it isn't going to be anywhere near as sugary as orange juice - though I find beetroot tastes sweet when I put it in my salad.
Cutting out the orange juice is probably going to be a good thing though.
The raisins are high carb - but most things these days have the nutritional information on the packet - you need to find the full information, not go by the traffic light system on the front as that is not full disclosure which we need.
Don't worry about asking questions @Rodgearing you need to know..

Do you make your own beetroot juice? 1 small beetroot 30g is 3g of carbohydrate compared to 40g cherry tomatoes which are 1g carb, so as with all these things it depends on how much you have and how it sits in the context of your whole dietary regime.
Raisins are high carb as is any dried fruit. Seed like pumpkin and sunflower are good to add to yoghurt or salads.
You are asking sensible questions.
I recommend the book or app Carbs and Cals as it gives carb values and pictures of portion sizes of a whole range of meals and foods. I found it was and still is my bible when first diagnosed.

Cashews are one of the higher carb nuts (along with peanuts), so whilst not overly high in carbs, there are other nuts like walnuts, brazils, hazelnuts and almonds which are the lowest carb nuts, so a better choice. Portion control with nuts (something I am not good at 🙄 ) is important though, particularly if you need to lose weight as they are very calorie rich.
As others have said, dried fruit is high carb and will push your BG levels upwards, so unless you can restrict yourself to just 2 or 3 they are best left on the shelf.

As regards beetroot juice, I tend to drink the pickling juice in drinks after I have eaten the pickled beets. I find (for myself) that I can get away with eating pickled beetroot and the pickling juice without causing any problems to my BG which I find surprising as sugar is part of the pickling process and of course beets are sweet. I often open a jar and have 3 or 4 baby beets and they don't impact my levels. I will then use some of the pickling juice in my occasional rum and diet cola or to flavour a glass of water. I decided that I was losing a lot of good nutrients and antioxidants by pouring it down the sink. It may seem odd to some people but I do enjoy that combination of sweet and sour.
Testing your BG before and after is the only way to know which foods and drinks impact YOUR blood glucose levels and it can be quite individual.

Really nice beetroot juice straight out of fridge, has many health benefits including lowering bp.

Always have pickled beetroot on salads, been known to have it in sandwich with cheese, yum yum.

To be fair, those are the average figure.
Ripe, sweet tomatoes could probably have way more carbs than that.
And how you juice them makes an enormous difference as well.
