HI,

I've been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, which I plan on reversing through diet and exercise.

I just have some questions about whether its good to drink beetroot juice and purple grape juice.

Thanks,
James

Welcome to the forum James. The best thing you can do is invest in a BG meter. This will help a lot with knowing what foods you can tolerate & which one's to avoid/have occasionally. That's how I've managed to 'reverse' my diabetes.

Its a blood glucose meter. The kit comprises of the meter, a lancet & test strips. You prick a finger with the lancet to get a small blob of blood, then apply it to a test strip & the meter will show you the result (measured in mmols/l). Test before you eat, then 2 hours after. You are looking for no more than 3 mmols/l rise after eating. The cheapest one is the SD Codefree from Amazon or Home Health. A lot of people on this forum use this meter.

Welcome to the forum, James. As well as testing the effects of various foods on your blood glucose levels, you should also read the nutrition content tables on food packets. Not just sugar, all carbohydrate. Most fruit juice is high in carbohydrate, nearly all of it sugar. So, if you want to drink, then have small portions.

Welcome James.
Ive seen the beetroot juice and just walked straight past in supermarkets it's so expensive and ain't it just vinegary lol
How about cranberry juice that's nice in small quantities

Thanks for all your replies.
I really love Beetroot juice, they do say its good for high blood pressure and diabetes.

Welcom, I think its best to be sceptical of low sugar/ no sugar labels, check the labels and look at the total amount carbs. As that will be the amount sugar produced in your body.

But we are all effected differently so if you can get a monitor and test stripe, you can personilised your diet to suit you.

I do miss beetroot. No interest in juice of any kind, I don't think it's good for you. Just my opinion of course. 🙂 Though come to think of it I am tempted by Mum's OJ in the fridge, looks so refreshing, she gets it off the milk man. On the other hand it always reminds me of Julia Roberts in Steel Magnolias which freaks me out.

Hello James and a very warm welcome to our forum - just a tad of info, grapes are sugar bombs so best avoiding them. Take care

Hi all, I'm a total newbie to this but I just have a quick question......is tinned soup ok to have? I love cream of mushroom but not sure if I can have it or not. Also, is there a certain amount of sugar/carbs I should have at each meal? By the way, thanks for the welcome messages, I look forward to chatting with everyone in the coming weeks and months ahead 🙂
