my mobility scooter, as i call him only went to Lidl's and got the biggest box of salad which i had for tea Im glad to report that the walk ways were nice and wide as were the tills For me it takes a certain amount of courage to go out on him

Well done you :star:

My mother would go out on hers and take a walking stick with her to prod people out of the way, very embarrassing when I was with her 😱

Reading the title, I had a moment's thought that we had another horse rider on the forum!! Then I remembered that Indie is your mobility scooter.
Pleased you had a good trip out with him. Just like horse riding, the more you do, the more your confidence improves. So pleased you had a good experience.
There is one thing for sure, I wouldn't dare take any of my GGs to Lidl, no matter how wide the checkout's are!! 😱

I am now picturing horses tied up outside the O.K. Lid-ral in Tombstone, England 😛

As for Gail's Indie, my friend has had once ever since she had a stroke. She zooms around all over the place an is very adept at manoeuvring herself to the table at a busy restaurant. Trains have to be pre-booked to get a ramp but she usually gets a place in 1st class (with a friend). Black cabs are best when she needs a taxi but they complain about the weight.

There was a farm near where I grew up and they had a very long driveway. Their letter box was at their gate, they had a couple of ponies in a paddock beside the house and would jump up on one and trit trot down to the box with their letters (to send) in a bag, collect the deliveries and another bag, close the box with a clang and then go trit trot back again. The ponies were very like the Thelwell cartoon ones.
I have a big mobility scooter that can do 8mph and get around on it quite a bit - down to the park, to the seaside, to morris practice and quite a few of the dance outs and the folk club as well as shopping. It is better than using the car as the traffic is so bad around here these days. I go trundling past the stationary cars at some point almost every time I go out these days.

A chap I know on my walks around the area I live has a pretty mean looking black scooter? The fairings or body kit on it looks like a track car? In his youth he used to modify his motors. We chat about that & further “pimping of the scooter.” During Covid he wore a gas mask style covering. Black shiny scooter, black clothing, mask. As I kept the distance in the open respectfully covering up myself, the guy couldn’t take to many precautions at the time. He joked about the mask with the muffled voice & would sign off. With the the Darth Vader catchphrase, “I am your father,”

Well I couldn't keep up with @Drummer, but as I bustle along at around 4mph I often overtake mobility scooters. Where I live is, I believe, the mobility scooter capital of the North so I get lots of practice. Likewise I enjoy overtaking narrow boats on the canal when I'm trudging up and down the towpath. Not that I'm competitive or owt, it just keeps the cardio going!

Update my mobility is getting better can now walk to and from my room to dining room with aid of walking frame and a staff member with me Sometimes they follow with wheelchair just in case Knee lot better but dont think it will ever be same as it was
