I bought one of these because my surgery would not let me have one as I am type 2 and according to them there is no need to test. I knocked it off the table yesterday and afterwards it was recording errors. I phoned their helpline as instructed and they have just had a brand new one delivered to me for free with strips, lancers and microlet lancer and lancets and a case. Less than 24 hours, I call that service. 🙂

That's excellent service happydog! I've got one too 🙂 Hope your new one lasts a bit longer! :D

good stuff happydog !
I've been using that meter since beg of August (they also sent it to me in the post which I got the next day?!).
I hope you enjoy using it - I really like mine and you only have to wait 5secs for the results which is fab. you can also download reports and and look at the data in lots of different ways.

I'm liking mine too. No problems with it so far, but I've made a mental not not to drop it. I've dropped the Insulinx a couple of times though, with no adverse effects on it. I think that means it scores another point.

I've got one of the silicon 'skins' by sending off 5 pack tops from strips, should give it a modicum of protection 🙂

I just accidentally ordered a new wallet for my Next USB! Not too sure how I managed that, I just wanted to have a look at them. Ah, well. 😱

I love my contour next. When I took the reports that you can print out to the DN she looked at them and said "What is all this? You are being really obsessive about this and I don't have the time to look at it". I suspect that she could not read a graph LOL. I will look into getting a skin for it and try to take better care of this one 🙂.

Tut! The reports are designed to give you information at a glance. Here's the thing, we are told that we should do at least half an hour's exercise each day to stay healthy. If we record that exercise, are we being obsessive? Of course not, what nonsense! 🙄

I just plug mine into the laptop and open up the software. It updates from the meter automatically. Same with the Insulinx.

Thank you Alison - I realise I am on yesterday's model - no usb

It shouldn't be too difficult to get a cable for it. If you haven't got one lying around already, you could try the Bayer site, they might just send it to you free.

Hang on a mo. What does your meter look like? If it's a Contour Next then it must have the USB bit.

If the image above is the one, then the USB bit is at the end near the menu buttons. You just remove the cover. Like so:

I am always amazed with Bayer's service.

I email them every so often about broken lancets, them never last long with me so long as they have my meters serial number they are happy to send me whenever I need one, I once wanted another one to have a spare so I gave them the serial number of an old contour meter. So when I need one I just email the same email.

I also emailed them about my usb contour saying it comes up with an error message sometimes, so can I buy a new one. They said they will send me a new usb next for free immediately! They told me I would need to change my test strips and said the doc should be okay with it as they are cheaper! But my doc says they are about 50p more expensive!

My only worry is that the strips won't work in an old contour meter so I won't have a spare, but maybe they will! I haven't started using it yet as last repeat script I got another 8 boxes of strips for the usb not the next usb, so next time I'll get onto the next usb, not sure what the difference is supposed to be mind!

I'm not certain but I think all the Contour range use the the same strips. It's the Optium beasties that need different ones.

not sure but they are definately different or boxed differently for the usb next but hopefully they will work on the older models??

Sorry for delay Alison - mine is the Contour xt. I have been keeping a spreadsheet - but might try to get the next model

Pharmacist at Boots told me that they are not compatible :( sorry. Perhaps Bayer will swap them?

Thank you Alison - I finally got around to calling Bayer - they are sending me a Contour next foc - so I am very pleased - well as pleased as you can be about such things!
