battle to get test strips on prescription

can i ask, are those of you who are diet/excercise controlled having problems getting test strips on prescription? i am in a battle at the moment with my GP to get them back on prescription (they, the DN and GP) have removed them off my prescription list and on Mon i have a phone call booked with my GP so am going to have to try and persuade her to let me have them as i can't afford to pay ?25 a pot each time - am i on to a losing battle here?

I think you probably are Carina. My GP and nurse both say no to diet and exercise controlled t2's. I was even told to just read the sugar content on the packet and then I would know if it was too high or not.

Only recently because my pancreas is being naughty have I been allowed a pot of 50 but only to test before and after exercise.

for a T2 on medication i am now only allowed 100 a year ...so i have been told...🙄

i know the feeling well. I tried telling my GP that i could only tell that my blood sugars were high and consistatly high if i finger prick tested because my Hba1cs were too far apart. I got one measley box out of him (still, that's one box more than last year) dispite the DSN at the hospital clinic saying that he should give them to me. Our PCT won't fork out for non-insulin dependant diabetics

I have also been told that I can only get a couple of tubs each year on prescription.

Well, my GP did ring me this pm and i was shocked (but pleased) that she has decided to let me have some strips on prescription 🙂 she banged on about the PCT etc etc but the phone line was crackling so i didn't get how many she said i could have, i guess it will be probably one or two pots per year or something like that.
