Hi All Just got home from Hospital after Aortic valve replacement surgery last Tuesday. Both looking and feeling like I have doe 20 rounds with Mike Tyson.
The surgery went as expected and the cardiac surgery team are happy with my progress so they let me home this afternoon.😎. as it says at the top I feel as if i have been through a boxing match . I have more bruises and scars than enough. They took a vein graft out of my left leg about 12 inches long inorder to do a bypass but when they got inside me they decided that they were unable to do this bit of the procedure and just did the main valve replacement😱. I now have to wait untill friday to go to my GP to have the 34 clips removed from my leg😱. So now it is just a cse of slowly recovering and getting some strength back. This week I am limmited to lifting no more than 2 cups of coffe🙄

Hi Mal.
Lovely to hear from you and that your back home, take things very slowly and take little steps sounds like you have been through the mill and back. Hope it goes ok Friday

Good to hear your home after your operation. Take care and hope you recover well.

Best wishes to you @malturn, hope your recovery is straight forward and speedy x

Glad it seems to have gone well Mal. Good luck for a speedy recovery and looking forward to 'seeing' the new you🙂

Aye, it's a hefty procedure to get over. I bet you can sleep lying flat now, though. It's a bugger having a defective aortic valve. It'll take a couple of months at least just to get over the assault on your body, so take care, and don't rush anything. I saw my mate next door about a month after surgery sitting in his garden soaking up rays. Now he walks a couple of miles a day and causes trouble on the community council. You'll get there Mal, it just takes time.

Hi Mal, so pleased to hear your back at home, take care of yourself baby steps to begin with, wishing you a speedy recovery x

Hope you're beginning to feel some benefit from a properly functioning aortic valve. Sorry to hear they couldn't fit your bypass vein in place.

Glad to hear you're home and the op is behind you. Wishing you a speedy recovery. And enjoy the cups of coffee! 🙂

It's good to hear your back home even though your are battered and bruised.
Take things easy.

Glad to hear you are back home Mal 🙂 Wishing you a good recovery and a new lease on life 🙂

Well I'm pleased for you that it's done now and you're home - but will just send you virtual hugs cos sounds like you won't appreciate real ones for a while.

Be patient, whilst you heal, Grasshopper LOL

Glad for you that's it over. Take care.

Wishing you a speedy recovery Mal.

Pleased to hear you have had your operation and are back home. I hope the recovery goes well.

Get well soon!

Glad to hear you're home & the surgery went well...those two cups of coffee...hopefully not both at the same time:D:D:D.

I hope you start to feel much less battered and bruised soon.

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts. It will be a long slow recovery, not allowed to drive for 6 weeks which makes life very dificult for me. Had a call from the cardiac nurse this morning and she is coming to see me tomorrow. Also just had my diabetic retinopathy appointment come this mornig so I phoned them and they said it will be ok for me to go ahead with this. Not botherd to update my drugs list yet as some are only short term.
