Well done on getting the dosage of Fiasp right Matt, I reached a tad under 15 before very slowly coming down through the night and waking up at 10 feeling like c**p.
I've given myself a bit of abasaglar this morning to see if I can get it down a bit. I don't think I'll bother with any more mince pies.
Have a great day :D

So pleased your levels have come down overnight @Lisa65. 10 this morning is OK when you don't have a fast acting insulin to bring you down. Sorry to hear you feel rubbish though. Hopefully in the New year you will get a bolus insulin and be able to start managing things a little better.

If it is any consolation I woke up this morning not far behind you on 8.2 but my graph shows I scraped along in the low 4s and high 3s most of the night (according to Libre 🙄 (and slept really well as I always do when my levels are low) with a reasonably straight horizontal line but then DP kicked in about 6am and there was a steady climb until my high alarm went off at 8am. Unusual for me to get DP, but 8 units of Fiasp before I got out of bed dealt with that and FOTF and my breakfast, which I am just about to eat.

Hope you enjoyed your breakfast Barbara, I'm at work cooking dinner for 15 residents plus staff. The abasaglar has kept me level this morning when normally I get a rise at work. I have perked up a bit from first thing. I will finish around 2pm and go home to relax and start Christmas.

I only went from 5.4 up to 8.5 after tea despite having two sausage rolls again and a bowl of home made trifle, no mince pies though. My partner had made the trifle as low carb as possible with fresh unsweetened raspberries, and the custard was made with double cream and a tiny bit of cornflour. I have to say it was delicious

Just got woken up after going back to sleep by a loud beeping noise. It took me a few seconds to work out it was the low glucose alert on the libre app as I haven't heard it before. Managed to open one eye and check only to see 4.5 with a vertical down arrow 😱 followed by sensor error message. I thought I'd better check so staggered downstairs trying to remember where my meter was, the meter showed a reassuring 7.5 and the sensor came back to life shortly after, panic over 🙂

Likely a compression low from lying on it. Important to always keep kit and hypo treatment by the bed though as, if you were genuinely hypo, it isn't good to have to wander around the house in that state particularly if you have stairs to negotiate.

Yeah I had glucose tabs by the bed, but my test kit was downstairs. I'll have to remember to take it up with me at night

Got called into work at 9 because the other chef took ill and had to go home, luckily he had already put a casserole in the oven so I only had to do some mash and veg to go with it, leftover Christmas pudding for dessert and today is paid at time and a half, win win!

Yesterday was our Christmas dinner at home and I rather over indulged in the Christmas pudding, BGs were in the mid teens all evening and stayed there all night. So I had ten units of abasaglar when I got up, which brought me back down to 7.4 by lunchtime. Back on the lower carb diet now, although I'm hoping that the mega high readings over Christmas (and more importantly the fact that they stayed up there even twelve hours after eating anything) might help my case for getting mealtime insulin.

Have a look at the great British porridge company, they do an apple a cinnamon one that makes a wonderful outer for mince pies….. avoids the pastry using peanut butter and coconut oil recipe is on their website….
