Yep, I can't eat bananas anymore or a lot of other fruits I used to like.

Yes bananas are quite well known for raising blood sugars x

I remember when I first joined the forum and started testing BG levels. I couldn't believe a banana could send me into double figures. Think it was 12 point something. Never again!

I dunno! I ate a banana as an experiment this morning then the day went belly-up and I forgot to measure! 😱 Will measure in a mo and see if I'm still high after a day of high carbs yet again.

If the bananas are yellow, then they send my levels high, if they are turning from green to yellowish I can normally get away with eating them.

I'm the same as Pav. As long as they are not totally yellow then I'm Ok.
People in Tesco must think 'there's that mad woman again' as I rifle through the bananas looking for the greenest ones I can find :D

I occasional y have. When I was on Gliclazide I used them to raise my levels when low before driving.

Because the sugar hasn't soaked into the banana from the skin yet. I once had a too raw banana and the inside of my mouth went ooky, agh, I never did that again. Speckled bananas would spike us more I think. I'm gutted I forgot to measure after my banana, I really wanted to know how much it would spike me.

The 'blacker' or riper the banana, the higher in sugar it will be, so will have a greater impact on your levels. I always go for the ones that are just turned yellow, with maybe a bit of green 🙂

Always set my teeth on edge when they weren't soft and ripe enough - nasty. Hence since a ripe one sends me fairly instantly into the mid teens - I packed up buying any years ago. I might enjoy one bite of one very occasionally and get away with it - perhaps if I ever come to another meet, I'll buy one (a ripe one) and we can all have one slice! LOL

Don't like them unless they have flecks of black on them.....so off the menu for me too

I love them when the skin is turning black and I also did the experiment and I went from a 6 to 20.4 so off the menu they are.

You've convinced me that bananas, and probably most of my favourite fruits too, will have to go! Concentrate on vegetables and salads. Think some berries might still be beneficial. For antioxidants...
